Banana and Berry Acai Bowl Recipe

One of my favourite easy meals is an acai bowl. These clever little bowls are  slowly starting to pop up on everyone’s menu, but can be tricky to find in certain cities. They combine the indulgent feeling of icecream (my fave!) with all the health benefits of fruit, nuts, protein and Acai. These bowls can be expensive in a restaurant but are fairly inexpensive to make at home. you can buy either frozen acai packs, or acai powder whichever is easier to come by. You then simply add in a liquid of your choice, some more fruit and finish off with as many toppings as you like. The bowls never get boring because the flavour combinations are endless. This recipe is for a Banana Super Berry Bowl that took me 10 minutes to make. It’s perfect for before or after a workout because it’s filling but light and is chock full of vitamins.

Ingredients

  • For the acai base
  • 1 Sambazon Acai Pack
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/4 frozen super berries from President’s choice (any brand works)
  • Half a banana

Toppings

  • The other half of the banana
  • A handful of raspberries
  • A teaspoon of organic coconut flakes

**You can add, remove or change any of the toppings you’d like

Directions

Blend all of the ingredients for the acai base in a blender until smooth.

**Don’t blend for too long or it will become more of a smoothie than a bowl.

**If you are using frozen fruit, you may have to add a bit more liquid to smooth out the base

Pour your Acai mixture into a bowl and add all of your toppings.

Really- it’s that simple!
